Upcoming events in 2017

Apologies for not updating my site more often but I have a couple of events coming up that I would like to mention. Once again I’ll be moderating a panel discussion during the Architectural Design show in Manhattan.  It reunites me with one of my favorite people, Vicente Wolf, and let’s me spend time with a new acquaintance, a talented interior designer named Katie Scott. We’ll discuss the concept of spirituality as it relates to Interior Design at 1.30pm on Sunday, March 19th. If you plan to attend the AD show please drop by and of course, say hallo afterwards.

I’m glad to report that the super talented Lee Stanton invited me back to this year’s La Cienega Design Quarter event in May to moderate a couple of panel discussions. The first is a Keynote with the theme – Grey Expectations: Are Muted Colors a Commitment or a Cop out? The theme of the second panel discussion, a TLC Forum, is yet to be determined. If you haven’t ever attended the event in May it’s well worth a trip to Los Angeles. It attracts the best in our profession and all of the events are collegial, informative and fun. I can’t recommend it more highly!

I’ve started work on a new book that will explore the relationship between landscaping and interior design. I’m still in the research stage and I’m enjoying it tremendously. It enables me to once again collaborate with one of my favorite editors and it will be my first book for Timber Press.

STAY TUNED – In a few months I’ll begin work on another book for Rizzoli. It’s a monograph and focuses on the portfolio of one of the most talented interior designers/architects I know. I haven’t signed the contract yet but when I do I’ll post more info about it.

Be well and thanks for keeping up with all of my adventures!

AD show in New York; La Cienega Design Quarter in Los Angeles

Thanks to Laura Kirar and Benjamin Noriega Ortiz for joining me in New York at the 2016 Architectural Design Show on March 20th. Our panel discussion couldn’t have been more informal and relaxed. I learned so much about the design process. architecturaldigest.com/story/schedule-2016-adds

I’m currently planning a panel for May’s La Cienega Design Quarter in Los Angeles on May 4th – the theme will be Identity Theft: Maintaining Personal Identity in a Professionally Design Home. And on the same day (or maybe the day before) I’ll be in conversation with another designer (tbd) at the Farrow & Ball showroom on Melrose Avenue. Stay tuned for more info.

This week, on March 31st, I’ll be in Los Angeles talking to an ASID audience about getting published – in magazines and books.

And yes, this year I promise to keep this news section as up to date as possible:)

Please join me…….this Spring and Fall, 2015

Upcoming: Heart and Home book signing & panel

Please join me at 200 Lexington on September 18th for a book signing of Heart & Home; Rooms That Tell Stories and also for a panel discussion.

And if you happen to be Upstate please join me and several of the designers who are in Heart & Home at a big celebration we are having on September 27th.

Workman Publishing has released my Shoes book with a new cover. It’s now on sale. Look out for some more changes to the interior of the book in the next edition which will probably arrive in stores at the beginning of 2015.

Stripes Book & Oprah Online

Oprah on line is posting regular bits from my Stripes book. Here are the most recent two.

All Things White

The event where we discussed all things white at the Miele showroom in Manhattan on Thursday, March 7th went very well. It was great to spend an extended period of time with a group of smart bloggers including Leslie Clagett, Saxon Henry and Rose Gilbert.

Modern Atlanta Show

I am pleased to announce that I’ll be returning to the Modern Atlanta show founded by Elayne DeLeo and Bernard McCoy on the week of June 6th. I’ll moderate a panel with the local heads of the ASID and the IIDA which should be very interesting.

Stripes Book Review

The World of Interiors gave Stripes; Design Between The Lines a full page review in their April 2013 issue and 1st Dibs posted Annie Kelly’s review which is probably my all time favorite write up. In the next week of so I’ll post the piece I wrote about the very talented Alison Berger in the Spring 2013 issue of Cultured. It’s such a good publication. You can check out the digital issue at: http://www.cultureddigital.com/t/9613/

Also, check out the Q&A I did for the Spring issue of Ligne Magazine if you have a chance: http://www.lignemagazine.com

Thanks for your interest and be well!
